Rock On 2 – Released With Defects : A Quick Review

In all of our FB pages, it’s written “What’s on your mind?”. So to respond to that question based on different situations, we write things which become status update… Right now it is Rock On 2 on my mind, so thinking of drafting few lines.

It was a much awaited movie for me and many other music enthusiasts in India. But, I lost my interest first when the “Jaaaaaaaaagooooo” was first launched in youtube. I was kind of moved few steps back after listening to this number… was that really the sequel of that thrilling “Rock On” in 2008 which reunited thousands of bands who ended up/broken without any reasonable justification?? The distorted riffs, the guitar solo, the drum rolls, that pure rock n roll flavoured lyrics of songs – everything was missing.

The cinematography – focusing on the specific gestures of a particular instrument – like foot tapping of the lead guitarist on stage with the tempo of riffs he is playing, or focusing on the cymbal bang on time when its being hit – I highly missed these small but impactful things while watching the movie. Maybe it’s not correct to compare with the 1st one of any sequel but I cannot compromise with the goosebumps that I thoroughly felt in 2008 and I am sure, even now if I again watch “Rock On”, I will again feel that thud whose even 5% I couldn’t have for Rock on 2.

Does that summarize the movie review? Perhaps no, right!! It is a short story which have been pulled unnecessarily for 2 hours 40 minutes around. “Magik reunited for a noble cause” is the bottom line. Acting wise speaking, Shradhdha kapoor is a horrible misfit in the role as she doesn’t know acting, rest people are same and they did the maximum they could to reach a level but left no good impression to me. Music – only the two songs “Tere Mere Dil” and “Neela Aasman” are still audible rather good I would say. You might think about me, “তুই কটা গান বানিয়েছিস ভাই?” 🙂

Overall, just a one time watch if you are really craving for it, else go and watch “Poraan Jaay Jwoliya Re”!!
